On Asexuality

November 27, 2018

According to studies, 1% of the population is physically attracted to neither men nor women. This translates to around 3.5 million people in the United States alone who are Asexual.  Daniel Lomax, who identifies as asexual, goes on air along with asexual researcher Dr. Anthony Bogaert and Cole Brown from the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) to explore what life as an asexual is like. It turns out this misunderstood and underrepresented community deals with many of the same challenges that homosexuals endure. Growing up with no sex drive can be confusing and they are often ridiculed and hauled off to doctors or therapy in an attempt at a “fix.” We learn that asexuality, though statistically rare, is a perfectly normal state of being.
